About Us Yeshiva Ohel Simcha was founded fourteen years ago by Rabbi Haimoff, Shlit"a, who saw a desperate need for a Yeshiva that would cater to the Sephardic frum community in the Queens area. Since that time, the yeshiva has produced fine young men who are the pillars of the community today. Baruch Hashem, most have continued to stay in Kollel after they were married, and the ones who went out to work are making a tremendous Kiddush Hashem every day through the honest way they conduct their business. Additionally, being raised in Eretz Yisrael, Rabbi Haimoff always instills a deep love for the holy land and acceptance of every Jew through the Torah way. In the yeshiva, Rabbi Haimoff implemented a semicha program for the talmidim, as well as safrut, and an intense learning of the hilchot nida. These tools enable the men to have different job opportunities within the Torah realm. In addition to the Yeshiva/Kollel, Ohel Simcha has a wonderful early childhood program as well, which accepts children as young as one month old until the age of 4. There was a big need to open a pre-school for the children of all the young couples of our growing community. The program implements hands on activities; such as shaving cream, sand, rice, and water play, while teaching the children concepts such as math, science, reading and the like. The classrooms are also center oriented, allowing maximum development for each activity. The shul at Yeshiva Ohel Simcha has daily minyanim for tefila, including netz, and nightly shiurim for the baalei batim as well. R'Haimoff also gives a shiur every Motzei Shabbat, which is taped and distributed free of charge all over the United States. Many people became interested in their Jewish heritage after picking up one of these random CD's, and have Baruch Hashem returned to their roots. At the yeshiva, Rabbi Haimoff always emphasizes to his faculty the importance of Kiruv Rechokim: drawing straying Jews back to their rich heritage. It is for this reason that he is continually traveling from city to city, from state to state, and sometimes from country to country on his endless mission to return his fellow brothers to the Torah and mitzvoth. Furthermore, another matter of paramount importance to the Rabbi is peace between husband and wife, commonly known as Shalom Bayit. It is for this reason that he invests so much time and effort in counseling married couples, just to restore the harmony in their lives. He even goes so far as to give lectures to the in-laws of these couples regarding how to achieve a healthy relationship between both sets of parents and the children. Thus, we are an institution dedicated to the furtherance of Torah knowledge and helping all those in need of spiritual guidance at all times, as this is our main objective. |
